Florists who want to add a dash of something new to their design room and coolers will soon have the chance to review more than 5,000 stems of the best flowers and unique plants on the market during one of the industry’s biggest flower and plant competitions.
Dozens of growers and breeders from across the country and around the world will exhibit their finest cut flowers, greens, potted flowering plants, bedding plants and foliage for top honors in Outstanding Varieties at SAF Maui 2016, the association’s 132nd Annual Convention at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua.
“Outstanding Varieties is a way for growers to get extra visibility with buyers and wider market exposure for their best lines,” said SAF Chairman Shirley Lyons, AAF, PFCI, of Dandelions Flowers & Gifts in Eugene, Oregon. “It’s a must-see event for florists, wholesalers and growers. The jaw-dropping display is also open to the public and frequently attracts media interest.”
Expert judges crown one Best in Show, rank 12 Best in Class, and present Blue and Red Ribbons to dozens more. Attendees vote for their favorite to win People’s Choice.
