The Society of American Florists is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a part time Finance Specialist to manage our day-to-day finance operations, in conjunction with our third-party accounting partner. Your mission is to help ensure the accuracy and efficiency in our finance and HR administration operations.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years proven experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as Sage Intacct
- Proficiency in Bill.com, Divvy or other AP/AR, and expensing software
- Proficiency in payroll software, such as Paylocity
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Excellent customer service skills and experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration
- Certifications a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and executing day-to-day functions of the finance and administration activities of the organization.
- Troubleshooting finance related issues with team members as needed.
- Monitoring and approving internal coding of disbursements in bill pay system.
- Maintaining and managing credit card payables system; ensure accuracy and sync with accounting software.
- Processing monthly billing for SAF partners.
- Processing and managing payroll, including journal entry; tracking accrued and used leave.
- Supporting month-end closing activities, such as importing all financial data into accounting software for the third party accounting firm to do the monthly financials.
- Supporting budgeting process, annually and year-round.
- Supporting annual auditing process.
- Handling HR-related onboarding of new employees, maintenance of employee records.
- Maintaining tax filings, W9 forms.
- Implementing processes to improve finance department’s efficiency while maintaining strong internal controls.
- Managing relationship with third party accounting partner, accounting firm, investment advisor, benefits broker, EAP and other vendors related to organization’s finances and administration.
- Other duties to support SAF’s finance operations as required.
