Location: Remote 

Rate: $25-$30/hr depending on experience.

The Society of American Florists is seeking a highly motivated and organized Member Engagement Specialist to help drive organizational growth through increased member engagement. This results-driven role is responsible for strengthening member relationships, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, and delivering an exceptional member experience. As part of the Membership and Development team, you will play a key role in advancing SAF’s growth strategy.

Primary Objective: Drive growth by increasing member engagement and retention while reducing attrition.  

Member Engagement & Retention  

  • Conduct proactive outreach to members via email, phone and the app throughout the membership lifecycle, including:  
  • New member onboarding 
  • Orientation scheduling  
  • Engagement touchpoints  
  • Renewal outreach  
  • Identify member needs and connect them with relevant SAF programs, benefits, resources, and partner services.  
  • Monitor member engagement against key performance indicators and adjust strategies throughout the membership lifecycle to improve retention and reduce attrition. 

 

Member Support 

  • Provide timely, professional and service-oriented support to member inquiries via email, phone and app regarding:  
  • Membership benefits  
  • SAF resources  
  • Events and programs  
  • General membership questions  
  • Assist with member-facing activities at conferences, trade shows, and networking events as needed and if applicable. 

 

Membership Administration 

  • Support membership operations, including:  
  • Maintaining accurate records within the Association Management System (AMS) 
  • Payment processing  
  • Event registration (virtual and in-person)  
  • Conduct outreach via phone, email and app regarding declined payments and account updates.  
  • Contribute to content and copy for membership marketing materials as needed.  
  • Contribute to special projects and broader organizational initiatives as needed.

     

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.  
  • 1-3 years of experience in membership, communications, marketing, or a related role, preferably within an association or nonprofit environment.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.  
  • Familiarity with CRM or Association Management Systems (AMS), such as Re:Members (formerly Impexium) or similar platforms.  
  • Experience with project management tools such as Trello, Asana, Monday.com, or equivalent systems a plus.
