The World Wide Web is arguably the world’s largest shopping mall — and it has way too many retailers to count. How’s a florist supposed to get attention in such a crowded marketplace? It’s a challenge — but not an insurmountable one, contends Josh Glass, AAF, vice president of Peoples Flower Shops in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“Treat your website as your store’s primary location,” Glass said. “It’s a reflection of you and your business.”
Glass will explain how to make tweaks big and small that lead customers to your business during his presentation “Pick Me! Stand Out and Sell More Online,” at the Society of American Florists’ 1-Day Profit Blast in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Sunday, July 15 sponsored by the Bill Doran Company.
“There are things, easy things, you can do that only require a minimal amount of time and a small financial investment,” Glass said. “These things, the website and social, allow you to control the message for your business. They put you in charge and let you tell your own narrative. Whether it’s just correct shop hours and location or making sales online.”
In his session, Glass will talk about why and how to use social media and how to optimize your web presence on Google. He’ll point out the ways Facebook reviews are different from Yelp, and how to get the most out of both. He’ll also talk about the most important details that should always be included on your website, starting with ways to make it easy to find what you’re looking to buy and ending with how you can use tools on the backend, like Google AdWords to help bump up your shop in search results.
Glass has a wide variety of experience in the fields of online marketing, website development, social media, financial management and inventory management. His work with website development and Search Engine Optimization was featured at the 2014 Teleflora RTI Conference by Google and he has spoken on the topic multiple times at SAF Annual Conventions.
