Science has proven that flowers make people happy, and hopefully your business is plans to spread the power of flowers on Oct. 19 with the Society of American Florists’ annual feel-good initiative, Petal It Forward. Follow these tips to reach even more people using social media before, during and after your event.
- Facebook. Get people excited before your event by posting images of your team getting ready, providing some teasers about what is going to happen on event day. Then, post several times during the event to give people an idea of what’s going on and encourage them to stop by to participate. A Facebook Live session might help get people engaged and experience fun as if they were there. Finally, wrap up the event with a post about how much fun you had, how many flowers you gave away, and the emotional impact the event had on members of the community.
- Twitter. Provide minute-by-minute updates and look-ins of the event. Twitter is not as visual as Facebook or Instagram (although you can post pictures within your feed), but it can still be used to spread the message and inform people. Location updates, statistical developments and news coverage make great Twitter content.
- Instagram. This platform will be the most helpful for Petal It Forward because it allows you to use a combination of posts or Reels on your profile and Stories to capture attention and get people excited about what’s going on. Think of profile posts, whether they are pictures of Reels, as anchor content; this is the content you want documented permanently because it can be accessed through your profile at any time. Use Stories for the quick, fun and clever posts (pictures or quick video) that will disappear after 24 hours. Remember to focus on engaging content that gets people’s attention, keeps it, and encourages likes, comments and tags.
Make sure to tag all your photos and stories by using #PetalItForward, which will enable social media users to explore all content related to the #PetalItForward campaign and help spread the positive message.
