If you are having a hard time finding and keeping employees lately, you aren’t alone: The National Federation of Independent Business recently found that “22 percent of small employers who have hired an employee for their most-skilled position in the past two years have actually lowered the minimum requirements for applicants.” What’s more, according to that NFIB survey, “about a quarter of employers said they lowered requirements for the most-common, less-skilled positions.”
Those stats don’t surprise Glenna Hecht of Humanistic Consulting who said small business owners in particular face significant challenges in this historically tight labor market. On June 5, she’ll present “Hire Smarter,” a free webinar for Society of American Florists members that provides tips and advice on how to beat the odds and build the team you need. The 20-minute session includes an additional 10 minutes for questions and answers. Tune in live at 2 p.m. EST— or watch the session later with your team. Hecht’s session is the first in a three-part HR WebBlast series for SAF members. Find out more.
