Mood Changer Poster Creates Instant Connection
SAF's Mood Changer poster on a flower cooler at Fassler Florist in Fort Wright, KY

Fassler Florist in Fort Wright, Kentucky, puts a simple message, designed to spur impulse purchases, to work on the shop’s display cooler.

During a visit to to Fassler Florist in Fort Wright, Kentucky, last week, SAF Chairman Shirley Lyons, AAF, PFCI, of Dandelions Flowers and Gifts in Eugene, Oregon, saw a familiar poster that made her smile… And that’s just what the image was made to do.

While Lyons knows the “Mood Changer” image well, the sight of the green cymbidium orchids, hot pink roses, orange ranunculus and trendy succulents still stopped her in her tracks — in part because of the strategic and prominent placement of the poster on the cooler door.

As Carol Caggiano, AIFD, PFCI, explained in an About Flowers post around the Mood Changer campaign, the images are based on SAF-funded studies on the impact of flowers and gift-giving.

Rutgers University did a study that proved flowers as gifts make people ‘truly’ happy, and increase life satisfaction and enjoyment,” wrote Caggiano, who helped create the Mood Changer campaign. “In an additional study that involved senior citizens , it was discovered that seniors that had flowers in their living spaces were happier and more social than those that did not.”

The Mood Changer materials available to SAF members include a poster, statement stuffer and post card. Find out more and peruse other images and products at https://safnow.org/shop/.
