Kittelberger Florist and Gifts in Webster, New York, scored some prominent ink right before the biggest shopping weekend of the year, all because of its Yuletide décor.
The Democrat and Chronicle quoted shop owner Meg Benedict and featured several photos of the showroom in “Trifecta of Sales,” a Nov. 23 article about Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.
“We needed a store well decorated for the holidays and Kittelberger fit the bill,” said Mary Chao, the article’s author.

Benedict said the staff started assembling holiday displays back in September. “We have a 2,500-square-foot showroom, so we just put up little by little,” she said. “It wasn’t full-blown ‘in your face’ Christmas Thanksgiving.”
In addition to cut flower designs and plants, Kittelberger Florist carries a wide range of gift items, including jewelry, purses, women’s clothing, candles, art, picture frames, wreaths and gourmet food items. A lot of customers come in for non-floral goods, especially the Alex and Ani bracelets or Vera Bradley items, and those who do come for flowers often leave with several bonus impulse buys.
Small Business Saturday drew around 300-350 customers, a turnout Benedict partially attributes to the newspaper article. Every customer received a free rose, and those who spent more than $100 got a $20 gift card. “This was to say thanks,” Benedict said. “We wanted them to know we appreciate them shopping locally and choosing us for their holiday gifts.”
