The Society of American Florists’ membership includes all segments of the industry — and that community is the heart of SAF. This bi-weekly feature spotlights SAF members sharing inspirational stories, professional insights, and the opportunity to form new industry connections.

Angélique Witcher joined Accent Decor in 2017 as a part-time social media strategist. Since then, her role with the company has grown to social media manager, then to managing partnerships and content, and now to leading the majority of marketing efforts alongside what she describes as an “incredible” team.

Biggest Challenge

Accent Decor caters to an assortment of businesses — florists and wedding and event designers, of course, but also garden centers, plant shops, interior designers, home and gift shops, and more.

“Refining and tailoring our marketing messaging so that our different product offerings translate to our variety of customers keeps things interesting,” Witcher says.

Best Advice

Witcher says the best advice she’s ever received is to pause, because it is a “healthy reminder to take a step back and take a beat before answering a question or making a decision.”

Proudest Accomplishment

She is most proud of the partnerships and relationships that she’s forged and nurtured as she’s grown within Accent Decor.

“Over the years I’ve worked and collaborated with industry pros that have allowed us to create some really magical moments within our content, showrooms, catalogs and more,” Witcher says.

Why SAF?

Accent Decor has a long history with SAF, participating in virtual events, volunteering on taskforces and committees and sponsoring and speaking at SAF’s events.

“Historically, we’ve leaned into a variety of in-person, digital and print options within the SAF programs,” Witcher says. “We were early adopters of SAF’s Nex Gen LIVE! conference which allowed us to garner meaningful connections with the next generation of floral professions.”

Witcher’s favorite part of being a member? Creating and cultivating new relationships and friendships within the industry.

“Our love for the floral world is the common thread that brings us all together!”

Witcher was recently featured on SAF’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
