The misclassification of workers as independent contractors can be an extremely costly and a difficult misstep for employers to correct. In light of the new pass-through rates established under the 2017 tax law, businesses may be seeing an increase in individuals requesting to be classified as independent contractors rather than employees.

The Society of American Florists helps members make sense of it thanks to its long-standing relationship with the Small Business Legislative Council, a coalition of trade associations like SAF that share a common commitment to the small business sector of the economy.

Jessica Summers, Strategic Policy Director of the SBLC, will examine the risks and rules involved in classifying workers as independent contractors during “Independent Contractor Classifications – Things to Know Now,” a free WebBlast for SAF members on July 18.
