Burnout, chaos and last-minute scrambles can feel like business as usual during high-pressure events and holidays — but operating that way can quietly erode your culture and make it harder to retain great people. At the Society of American Florists’ Next Gen LIVE! conference in February, Corrine Heck, PFCI, founder of Details Flowers Software, will offer a roadmap to a more sustainable way of working.
In her session, “Survivor: Floral Edition — Out-Plan. Out-Last. Out-Perform,” Heck, founder of Details Flowers Software, will show attendees how a culture of preparation and communication can help floral teams handle high-stress events without losing steam.
“You have to have a consistent process in how you approach your business and your team,” Heck says.
Heck speaks from experience. Before launching Details, she was a floral designer facing her own share of wedding-day curveballs. Today, she leads the team behind Detail’s all-in-one platform and the company’s all-in culture — from weekly team yoga to a full-service spa inside her office.
“I don’t think the younger generation is really after the paycheck—they’re after the experiences,” she says. “We try to show up with love behind everything we do.”
Heck will also share insights from other leading floral businesses on how culture impacts retention, performance and the bottom line. “Change is possible,” she says. “If your business is struggling and doesn’t feel like it has culture, you can take steps. It won’t be an overnight change, but it will benefit your business in the long run.”
