As the saying goes, time is money — and florists need to be careful with both.
The Society of American Florists’ 1-Day Profit Blast in Cranston, Rhode Island, on April 6, is designed to help florists improve efficiencies that save time and boost sales — even with a lean team.
The event, sponsored by Carbone Floral Distributors and the Flower Shop Network, also offers ample time for florists to talk with peers and visit top industry vendors. That networking opportunity was a highlight for Kiersten Bechtoldt at a Profit Blast she attended last year.
“I learned so much about the product I sell in my shop daily, including where the growers are located and their practices,” says Bechtoldt of Koch Florist & Gifts in Middletown, New Jersey. “I am so grateful for the way I could experience all the specialty products.”
The education will focus on efficiencies and strategies to drive sales in wedding and everyday work.
In “ Wedding Designs, Tricks and Tools You’ll Love,” Loann Burke, AAF, AIFD, PFCI, a champion of SAF’s Sylvia Cup Design Competition, shares time-saving floral techniques and budget-maximizing strategies to help create beautiful designs for price-conscious brides. Attendees will learn how to create trending wedding styles — like loose, unstructured bouquets and hoop arrangements — efficiently and profitably.
In “Retail Reinvented: Boosting Efficiency, Sales & Motivation with a Lean Team,” sales and service guru Tim Huckabee, founder of Floral Strategies, leads an interactive session on boosting sales and efficiency with a lean team. Huckabee will discuss how sales channels are evolving, how to maximize conversions with a small team, and how to coach staff to sell more and serve better.
In “Designing Insta-Worthy Events: Floral & Social Media Mastery,” Donald Yim, AIFD, PFCI, teaches florists how to leverage Instagram for business growth. His session covers photography tips, branding strategies, and social media engagement techniques to help florists expand their online reach.
