With the return of spring flowers and blossoming trees, why not celebrate the season by staging space in or around your shop to lure in visitors who will post their selfies, organically advertising your business to keep you top-of-mind?
The March/April issue of Floral Management features several examples of florists who have generated foot traffic and publicity doing just that. During the height of pandemic-related shutdowns in spring 2020, Cara Lard of Mum’s Flowers in Whitefish, Montana, created a balloon arch outside her shop in the shape of a rainbow. Intended to boost community morale, the installation also became a social media phenomenon — prompting hundreds of locals to take photos and share them on Instagram, advertising Lard’s business (and impressive balloon art skills!) in the process. That effort, no doubt, helped Mum’s amass its 20,000-plus Instagram followers and gave the small business major name recognition.
