Consumers around the world search for businesses by typing questions into Google. One way to increase the odds they find yours? Post some queries on your Google Business Profile.
“Thousands of times per day, shoppers turn to Google to find a florist — and the shops that Google recommends get hundreds of shoppers sent to their website,” writes marketing expert Dan McManus in the March/April issue of Floral Management. If your Google Business Profile (GBP) references what consumers are asking, the search engine will take that into consideration when deciding whether to show your shop in the results.
“Here’s the secret: Anyone — including you — can post questions to your GBP,” says McManus, founder and president of TeamFloral, a marketing and consulting company for florists.
For maximum impact, focus on the two most common words used by floral shoppers: “florist” and “flower delivery.”
“The more times these two keywords appear on your GBP, the more likely Google is to show your shop in search results,” McManus says. “Make it a game. See how many times you can use each word in a sentence and still keep a straight face.”
Here’s an example:
Q: Does your florist shop offer flower delivery to (nearby town where you deliver)?
A: Yes, as a leading florist for town, we offer express flower delivery, timed flower delivery, same-day flower delivery and next-day flower to delivery to town. We are one of the few florists that offer flower delivery to town after 3 p.m.
