Tim Huckabee loves to illuminate what’s going right — and wrong — at retail flower shops.

During his presentation “Smart Selling,” on Sunday, July 15 at the Society of American Florists’ 1-Day Profit Blast in Green Bay, Wisconsin, sponsored by the Bill Doran Company, the president of FloralStrategies, LLC will call florist shops and participants will listen in as he poses as a customer placing an order. Participants will hear what’s going right — and wrong — at that crucial point of sale.

“Do you realize that when customers call the shop, they are seeking the help of an expert and are predisposed to follow your lead?” Huckabee wrote recently in his “Smart Selling” column for Floral Management. “It’s true: Customers will spend more if you simply allow them to do so.”

In Green Bay, Huckabee will give pointers from his 20 years of experience in the industry. He’ll explain how to teach your team how to give exemplary service on the phone and on the floor. He’ll reveal how to increase nearly every sale by 20 percent or more by simply listening better, and he’ll show how to find the hidden profits in the items and services your staff aren’t offering shoppers now.

“Every business owner wants bigger sales and more profits, but you can’t simply wish that into happening,” Huckabee said. It takes work, and patience, and yes, even a course correction when needed.
