If you love talking about flowers and presenting programs for garden clubs or industry groups, you’re three quarters of the way to earning the PFCI certification you deserve. The only thing left to do: fill out an application.

The Society of American Florists’ Professional Floral Communicators – International (PFCI) is the service mark of the floral industry’s best floral educators. On local, regional and national stages, PFCI members present educational programs to floral professionals on topics ranging from design and care and handling to floral industry trends and profitability. PFCI members are vetted for presentation, publication and leadership experience, and candidates must submit an audition DVD of a live presentation to demonstrate their communication skills.

In the past, PFCI has required the audition DVD presentation be conducted in English. New this year, applicants can submit their auditions in their native language.

“We want to open the door to non-English speaking candidates and become truly ‘international’,” said PFCI Board of Trustees Chairman D Damon Samuel, AAF, AIFD, NAFD, NMF, PFCI, of the Bill Doran Company in Omaha, Nebraska. “With technology today, the PFCI Board can evaluate an applicant who is presenting in another language.”

The PFCI membership application deadline is Jan. 27, 2017. SAF will honor new PFCI members during SAF Palm Beach 2017, SAF’s 133rd Annual Convention, Sept. 6-9, 2017 at The Breakers.
