Ever have to fight through the stereotype that men don’t like flowers — or that flowers and gardening are passions best left to the staid?

Last weekend, The New York Times gave florists everywhere some great social media fodder — in the form of a very hip endorsement.

“I’m addicted to my flowers,” said DJ Khaled, a hip-hop producer, music executive and radio host, currently on tour with Beyoncé

Khaled often shows off pictures of his garden on Snapchat — his handle is djkhaled305 — and he told the Times he sees the flower-filled space as a place to relax and find inspiration.

“If I’m stressed out, I go sit there and just embrace it and play some nice reggae music in the background,” he said. “You should try it one day.”

In the interview, he endorsed hiring a professional to help create a home garden, but then admitted that the maintenance of a garden is a labor of love — and, really, a joy.

“I show them love,” he said. “When you show the flowers love, you see the love.”

Read about another artist — this time a 19th century force — who devoted herself to her garden.
