Florist Shares Their ‘Perfect One-Stop’ Gift For Mother’s Day

Lucky Flowers in Kennewick, Washington, lets customers shop the store to build a customized gift box — perfect for Mother’s Day.

A florist in Kennewick, Washington has built on the idea of a traditional gift basket to offer customers a way to personalize gifts for Mother’s Day and other occasions — and help the shop move inventory.

The shop, Lucky Flowers, shared its “Lucky Box” concept in the March/April issue of Floral Management. Customers pay $10 for a cardboard box printed with seasonal designs and are invited to shop the store’s selection of pampering items, from wine and candy to mugs, bath bombs, candles, plants and more. Flowers, of course, can be included.

“Clients like choosing their own paper , browsing the displays, and really personalizing the selection for the recipient,” says Melissa Behen, who owns the shop with Tiffanni Wright. The boxes are great for major holidays and special occasions. They also appeal to business clients, such as real estate agents, who order boxes with their branding for corporate gifting.

The boxes, available both in-house and online — and easily deliverable — are a staple of Lucky Flowers’ annual sales.

“They help us sell one-offs from our displays and move product in general,” says Wright. “It’s the perfect one-stop gift.”

To read more about the boxes, read the Hands On column, “Box it Up,” in the March/April issue of Floral Management.
