A New York City florist’s efforts to put stunning floral designs in unexpected public places is being called the “prettiest pop up ever” and garnering rave reviews on social media and in high-end publications such as Conde Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest and Vogue.
Lewis Miller, of Lewis Miller Designs, is the mastermind behind “Flower Flashes,” a series of elaborate floral designs that have appeared in beloved New York places (the Alice in Wonderland statue in Central Park) and … less beloved spaces, too (e.g a trash can on Bowery and East Houston).
The project started when Miller, who specializes in wedding and events, put 2,000 flowers at Strawberry Fields, the John Lennon Memorial in Central Park. The reaction — people stopping in their tracks and sharing the love on social media — was immediate.
“That was my goal, my vision,” he told Traveler. “Create an emotional response through flowers.”
Miller and his team have expanded their efforts since then but one thing remains the same: They never reveal a location in advance.
“I don’t see us stopping any time soon,” he said.
