Hustling to figure out a last-minute way to promote International Women’s Day next week —and all of the goodwill (and potential sales) the “new” holiday can create?  Why not take a page from national brands and highlight the talented, motivated women who make up your staff?

Charlotte Day, head of content and social media marketing at easyMarkets, writes that small-business owners looking for effective ways to take part in Women’s Day on March 8 should consider turning the spotlight on their teams. Doing so personalizes your business (and reinforces your local roots) and also ties in naturally with one of the day’s underlying messages: empowered, productive women are key parts of a vibrant workplace.

What’s more, promoting your team pride is fast and easy, which is good news for the time-crunched.

“Take a photo of your female staff members celebrating International Women’s Day ,” Day recommends. “Use as a cover photo for the day on your fan pages.”

Even better: Make a quick video, which social media marketing experts say is far more likely —up to 135 percent — to gain attention than a text-only or even text and picture post. Ask staff to share a personalized greeting or even a story of a woman who has inspired them, suggests Day.

Once you’ve posted a video, picture or message, keep the momentum moving on social media by asking customers to share stories and photos of the important women in their lives.
