First-time convention attendee Lindsay Rakowski of UFN ended up tying the knot with her then-fiancé, Andrew, just days after convention ended.
When the Society of American Florists ticks off stats for SAF Maui 2016, its annual convention last month in Maui, the organization can proudly list 400-plus attendees, 88 first-time attendees… and one gorgeous, unexpected wedding.
Just days after the convention wrapped, Lindsay and Andrew Rakowski decided to tie the knot on Monday, Sept. 26, at Kapalua Bay in a traditional Hawaiian ceremony.
Lindsay was at the event as part of a team of attendees from UFN, the digital marketing company and software provider. Her then-fiancé, Andrew, accompanied on the trip. The pair had always planned to extend their time in Maui for some vacation time, but once they were in Hawaii, they couldn’t shake the feeling that the time and place were perfect for saying I do.
“I never thought I would come to my first SAF conference with my boyfriend and leave as husband and wife,” Lindsay admitted. “Thank you so much for inadvertently choosing the perfect, more romantic place for our wedding. We look forward to celebrating our first-year anniversary at the Breakers”— the site of next year’s convention.
