From July 11 through August 19, 2016, USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) will accept suggestions for research projects to respond to or plan for plant pest and disease concerns affecting specialty crops, including flowers and plants.
Through Section 10007 of the 2014 Farm Bill, APHIS expects to make more than $50 million available to federal, academic and non-profit institutions.
In years past, Section 10007 has helped fund projects to develop mitigation strategies and rapid response efforts for some significant pest and disease challenges such as impatiens downy mildew, Q-biotype whitefly and thrips.
