The uBloom crew films the post harvest process at Alexandra Farms and studies the company’s range of garden rose varieties.

J Schwanke, AAF, AIFD, PFCI, the founder of uBloom.com, announced Monday, October 23, the release of his latest documentary series, “The Flowers of Colombia.”

Filmed on location in and around Bogotá earlier this month in conjunction with Proflora, the biannual flower trade show hosted by Asocolflores, the series borrows the same name as the association’s new national brand. It will include 12 episodes, which will air monthly through September 2018.

Some of the shows will feature behind-the-scenes footage from Colombian flower farms, including Rosamina’s proteas and Alexandra Farms’ garden roses. In others, Schwanke highlights new varieties exhibited at the show, interviews breeders about what goes into producing quality flowers enjoyed around the world, discusses Colombia’s culture of sustainability exemplified in its social and environmental programs and health benefits of incorporating flowers into daily life.

Schwanke, who has previously filmed documentaries about America’s flower farmers (“The California Grown Experience” and “The Florida Fresh Foliage and Flower Tour”), is on a mission to share the stories of the growers and harvesters behind flowers from all around the world.

“Every flower is important, no matter its origins,” Schwanke said. “I’m happy to share the diversity of this industry.”

Viewers can watch the series for free on uBloom.com or YouTube.
