(SFX: A woman picks up the phone. We hear a dial tone but she begins speaking as though she’s rehearsing.)
David, I know what I did was wrong and… I just called to say I’m sorry.
(She hangs up the phone only to pick it up and try again. To dial tone.) Listen Dave, just hear me out on this, I want to apologize…
(Still not satisfied, she hangs up but quickly picks it back up and dials a number.) Yes, I’d like to send some flowers to a Mr. David Abbott and I want the card to say, “They’ve always worked for you. Will you forgive me?”
