With millions of stems moving in a matter of days, even brief temperature spikes or lapses in sanitation can undo careful handling.
“Even a short temperature spike can shorten vase life,” writes José Vicente Martínez, senior technical manager for Chrysal Americas, in the January/February issue of Floral Management.
Inside the shop, best practices such as immediate cooling, accurate mixing of conditioning solutions and clear staff protocols become even more critical during the Valentine’s Day rush when time and space are tight.
“Even the smallest lapse in sanitation can lead to bacterial buildup that blocks stems and shortens vase life,” writes Martínez. The payoff for getting it right? Longer-lasting arrangements, less waste and happier customers who notice the quality.
