What’s a busy florist to do on a midsummer weekend? (Read a book? Jump in a lake? Carve out some “me” time?) For Nancy Witte-Dycus, AAF, of Fantasy Flowers in Thiensville, Wisconsin, the answer this weekend is clear — and business-oriented: “I’m looking for sales techniques, web, social media improvements and ways to make more money.”

That’s because Witte-Dycus is among dozens of florists headed to the Society of American Florists’ 1-Day Profit Blast in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on July 15. The event, sponsored by the Bill Doran Company, is the third Profit Blast Witte-Dycus has attended. “What brings me back is the quality of the presenters and programs,” she said.

This will be the first SAF 1-Day Profit Blast for Tami and Gordi Gasch from Brilliont Blooms in Brillion, Wisconsin.

“As fairly new business owners, we are always looking for information that can help us improve our business, whether it is from a design and product perspective or ways to be more efficient and improve our bottom line,” Tami Gasch said. “The list of presenters and resources from the floral industry are impressive. We are excited to meet more people in the industry. We all have so much knowledge to share and it is fun to learn from each other.”

Stand Out and Sell More Online.” Along with the four presentations, the program includes a Supplier Showcase, networking breaks, breakfast and lunch.

Marcy Cronin and Emily Powell of Countryside Flower Shop in Crystal Lake, Illinois, are eager to get to Green Bay.

“I would like to learn more about driving customers to our site and how to get them to purchase higher dollar arrangements,” Cronin said. “I’m super excited for the last speaker, Josh Glass. I would really like to take back useful strategies to up my Google rankings.”

Powell is particularly excited about the ‘Roadmap for Profitable Deliveries’ and ‘Smart Selling’ presentations.

“The ‘Roadmap for Profitable Deliveries’ seminar is great because I feel that it is such an important topic that doesn’t get spoken about often enough,” Powell said. “There is so much to learn from other people in the industry. I look forward to learning how to accurately navigate the dreaded gray areas when it comes to delivery zones and pricing. And I am always looking for new and efficient ways to train our staff to upsell. We pride ourselves in having great customer service, but everything has room for improvement.”

There is still time to register online for SAF’s 1-Day Profit Blast in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bring the whole team — additional registrants from the same company are only $99 each. On-site registration and the Supplier Showcase open on Sunday, July 15 at 7:30 a.m. Registration includes continental breakfast. The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. For details, visit safnow.org/1-day-profit-blast.
