At weddings consultations, first impressions are everything. If you want the bride to sign on the dotted line, you need her to feel relaxed, inspired and completely comfortable with your design expertise during that first meeting.
Amanda Allen, of MMD Events in Tampa, Florida, caters to some of the region’s toniest clients who throw six-figure weddings. To make them feel pampered and eager to discuss wedding décor, she’s outfitted her showroom with all sorts of luxe details such as opulent wall coverings, rugs and lighting fixtures; cozy seating options including a sofa, wing chair and cushioned dining room chairs; and loads of fun patterns.
“Brides need to see your style to really be drawn in,” explains Allen, who made over her show room two years ago, when she decided she wanted to do fewer weddings a year, focusing on just high-end affairs.
Flaunting her design personality — bold and over-the-top — lets her immediately connect with likeminded people. It also helps prospective clients envision what she can do; for instance, most of the seating and lighting pieces in the showroom are available for event rental.
