One of the contenders last year for Oxford Dictionaries’ Word of the Year? Hygge. That’s a Danish word defined as “a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.”
“Pronounced ‘hoo-guh,’ the word is said to have no direct translation in English, though ‘cozy’ comes close,” writes Anna Altman in The New Yorker.
As the winter months close in, customers across the U.S. will again have hygge on the mind (even if they aren’t familiar with the term). Give them scented soaps, unique candles and other hunker-down-and-read-or-watch-Netflix inspirations with new finds presented in Floral Management.
