With more than 179 million Americans planning to partake in Halloween festivities, up from 171 million last year, spending is slated to reach a record high $9.1 billion, up from $8.4 billion in 2016, according to a survey by the National Retail Federation. Of that money, consumers plan to spend $2.7 billion on decorations (purchased by 72 percent of Halloween shoppers) and $410 million on greeting cards (37 percent). Among Halloween celebrants, 49 percent will decorate their home or yard and 35 percent will throw or attend a party.
Remind Halloween shoppers that flowers make boo-tiful décor and spook-tacular hostess gifts. The Society of American Florists provides members with a library of Halloween graphics sized for social media and website banner ads.
These graphics are designed to remind customers to treat loved ones with floral gifts and celebrate fright-night with floral décor. The graphics show flowers in seasonal colors, pumpkins and spiders, and read, “Happy Halloween!” “Boo-ti-ful,” “We have boo-tiful arrangements,” and “Dress up your Halloween party.”
