There’s a new rose in town — and it’s named for a floral industry legend who has dedicated her life to the art of floral design, the advancement of the industry, and the education of florists around the country.
At the Texas Floral Expo on July 28, Rio Roses and the Texas State Florists’ Association made the surprise announcement that a rose would be named in honor of Lynn Lary McLean, AAF, AIFD, PFCI, TMF, a former TSFA president and the group’s current Texas floral education coordinator.
“Lynn is not only the driving force behind the success of the Texas State Florists’ Association, but is admired for her many accomplishments and loved by many in the floral industry in Texas and across the country,” said Victor Giorgini, CEO of Equiflor Corporation.
The ‘Lynn’ rose, bred by Kordes, is a “pale pink centered rose surrounded by a cream color,” according to TSFA.
In 2011, the Society of American Florists presented its Tommy Bright Award to McLean, in recognition of her lifetime achievement in floral presentation.
