Members of the Society of American Florists will choose three new leaders — one from each segment — to serve on its Board of Directors during SAF Maui 2016, and via absentee ballot.

“The future of SAF and the quality of SAF programming is affected in large part by the caliber of SAF volunteer leaders,” said SAF Chairman Shirley Lyons, AAF, PFCI, of Dandelions Flowers & Gifts in Eugene, Oregon.

The candidates for the Board of Directors are running uncontested:

Grower Michael Mooney, Dramm & Echter, Encinitas, California

Retailer Skip Paal, AAF, Rutland Beard Floral Group, Catonsville, Maryland

Wholesaler Laura Shinall, Syndicate Sales, Inc., Kokomo, Indiana

Election results will be announced on Sept. 24, during the association’s 132nd Annual Convention, Sept. 21-24, at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in Hawaii. Once elected, the new members of SAF’s Board of Directors will serve three-year terms beginning after SAF Maui 2016.

To cast an absentee ballot, the voting member must submit a written request on company stationery to SAF by Aug. 22 via mail (SAF 1001 North Fairfax Street Suite 201, Alexandria, VA 22314) or fax (703) 836-8705. Completed absentee ballots must be received at SAF headquarters by Sept. 9.
