Within the last decade, breeders in the Netherlands have made major strides hybridizing Oriental and Trumpet lilies, producing a slew of new varieties with exceptionally strong stems, big petals that open fully, a vase life up to 14 days, and a wide range of colors. A wider range of colors has real market value: 70 percent of consumers say color adds to the impact of a floral gift.
