If your staff members stubbornly refuse to use your POS to take orders and instead rely on paper, it’s time to administer some tough love (and training).

That’s the message Tim Huckabee, customer service guru and head of FloralStrategies LLC, shares in this month’s issue of Floral Management magazine.

Florists who find themselves in this situation need to “pull your keyboard-fearing staff aside and have a very practical conversation,” he said. “Explain what you are paying a monthly fee for the entire store to use the technology.”

If they aren’t using the tech, you aren’t getting your money’s worth, and you’re leaving yourself open for more mistakes and trickier follow-through — not to mention tremendous liability if you’re allowing staff to write credit card numbers and secure info on Post-It notes.
