J Schwanke, AAF, AIFD, PFCI, interviews Eli Perez, owner of Rosamina, which grows proteas and leucadendron.

J Schwanke’s South American adventure continues this month with visits to farms specializing in garden roses, proteas and more during the second episode of his new documentary series, “The Flowers of Colombia.”

In conjunction with Proflora, Asocolflores’ biannual trade show, Schwanke, AAF, AIFD, PFCI, spent several days in early October touring farms in the Bogotà Savannah to see firsthand what they grow, learn how they do it and get to know the people behind the flowers.

In this segment, released November 19, Schwanke discusses diversity, highlighting the vast array of products grown in Colombia, including alstroemeria, carnations, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas, limonium, roses, solidago and more. With high altitudes, 12 hours of daylight year-round and moderate temperatures between 50F and 70F, “Colombia has the optimum flower growing environment,” Schwanke explains.

Viewers can watch the series for free on uBloom.com or YouTube.
