"Mothers have Mother's Day. Lovers have Valentine's Day," wrote Kristin Miller in a March 5 story for the Sun Sailor. "But what about a holiday that celebrates all women, who are doing great things to create a better world? International Women's Day Thursday, March 8, does just that, and Len Busch Roses in Plymouth is preparing bouquets to celebrate this global holiday."

Just in time for Women’s Day tomorrow, a wholesaler in Plymouth, Minnesota, received some high profile, positive news coverage for its holiday efforts.

“Mothers have Mother’s Day. Lovers have Valentine’s Day,” wrote Kristin Miller in a March 5 story for the Sun Sailor. “But what about a holiday that celebrates all women, who are doing great things to create a better world? International Women’s Day Thursday, March 8, does just that, and Len Busch Roses in Plymouth is preparing bouquets to celebrate this global holiday.”

The story detailed company’s efforts to build Women’s Day into a bigger event.

“We want to get behind this movement as a day to celebrate women in our everyday lives who are making a difference in our homes, schools and community,” Georgia Edgington, a designer featured in the story, told Miller.

Nancy Martinez, lead product manager for Len Busch, said this year “our team really wanted to do our part in creating awareness and helping our customers spread the word to their customers. We created a marketing packet for them to use as a tool to make this easy. We used this same format for us.”

Another tool they found helpful? A customizable Society of American Florists’ press release that the team personalized and submitted to local media.

“We had a diligent team that continued to follow up on our media contacts and it paid off,” Martinez said. “We will have both television and print media covering Women’s Day and spreading the word. We are proud to be able to be a small part in creating the awareness of this very important day and how flowers can help make it special.”
