The Washington Post recently ran a story on the subjects of life, death and grief. Titled “Epilogue,” it featured 11 profiles of people intimately involved in the aftermath of death including religious leaders, a funeral director, a casket maker, a stone carver, a bagpipe player — and a florist.
Former Floral Management managing editor Amanda Long, a regular contributor for the Post, interviewed Nubia Fasil, owner of Convention Floral in Washington, D.C. “We are with people at the big moments. When something happens — weddings, births, deaths — they come to us,” Fasil said. “I’m passionate about that part of my job.”
Fasil also shared a tender anecdote about a man who asked for a special after-hours delivery to a cemetery to mark the exact time the deceased had passed away, and explained how she helps guide grieving customers in choosing something emotive and personal to honor their loved one.
