Love Talking Flowers? Judge PFCI Auditions at AIFD National Symposium

“If you present YouTube floral demonstrations or are invited to speak at any event, you’ll discover what the PFCI Board of Trustees looks for when it reviews auditions, which is a major part of the PFCI membership application process,” said Robbin Yelverton, AAF, AIFD, CF, MCF, PFCI, co-owner of Blumz by…JRDesigns in metro Detroit and Rise & Shine moderator. “We invite you to assist in this important vetting process — and have a little fun in the process.”

Do you love talking about flowers and floral design? Do you present programs to garden clubs or other professionals? Then wake up early with Professional Floral Communicators – International (PFCI) on the Fourth of July — and weigh in as a judge.

The Society of American Florists’ PFCI is presenting “Rise & Shine: You Be the Judge” on July 4 in conjunction with the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) 2018 National Symposium “Discover” in Washington, D.C.

This year’s “Rise & Shine” focuses on the PFCI audition. Participants will watch four floral professionals audition for PFCI — and evaluate their presentations in the “Supreme Court” of the floral industry’s speakers bureau.

“Whether you’re applying for PFCI or looking to improve your public speaking skills, this is your chance to raise the bar in your own presentation realm,” said Robbin Yelverton, AAF, AIFD, CF, MCF, PFCI, co-owner of Blumz by…JRDesigns in metro Detroit and Rise & Shine moderator.

Expectations are high, Yelverton added. Participants will evaluate the auditions’ openings and closings, articulation, professionalism, stage presence, audience engagement and more.

“If you present YouTube floral demonstrations or are invited to speak at any event, you’ll discover what the PFCI Board of Trustees looks for when it reviews auditions, which is a major part of the PFCI membership application process,” Yelverton said. “We invite you to assist in this important vetting process — and have a little fun in the process.”

Space is limited at the “PFCI Rise & Shine: You Be the Judge.” For details and to reserve your seat on the judges’ bench, visit safnow.org/pfciataifd or contact the PFCI staff liaison Jenny Scala at SAF headquarters: 703-838-5216; pfci@safnow.org.
