“It’s easy for me to suggest florists simply cut employees’ work hours during the slow season to keep payroll numbers on target,” he writes in this month’s Floral Management. “The reality, however, is that unless you have part-time employees who are flexible enough to survive on a reduced income for a substantial amount of time, cutting employees during slow periods will mean losing good workers over the long run.”
