The fields at Washington Bulb Co. “will be more colorful as every day passes now,” Leo Roozen, AAF, told the Puget Sound Business Journal, which recently profiled his company and its RoozenGaarde, which is open to the public and draws hundreds of thousands of people a year.
Leo Roozen, AAF, had a positive message for potential visitors and flower lovers in the Pacific Northwest this week: The daffodils are blooming at Washington Bulb Co.— and the tulips will be soon.
“It’s a bit of a waiting game for thousands of people who usually head up to Mt. Vernon to see the fields of tulips in bloom at this time of year,” according to the Puget Sound Business Journal. “The popular rainbow of colorful blooms are not quite ready yet. But the daffodils are. Some 500 acres of them at Washington Bulb Co. are at the peak of the golden crop right now.”
Hundreds of thousands of people visit Washington Bulb Co.’s RoozenGaarde each year to see the tulips in bloom. The company, one of the largest employers in the county and the country’s top grower of flower bulbs, maintains a “bloom map” on www.tulips.com. The site is updated daily.
Roozen is an SAF past president and chairman of the board. Last year, SAF awarded Roozen its Paul Ecke Jr. Award for exemplary devotion to profession, industry and community.
