To mark a milestone anniversary, a florist in Northern Virginia hitched its celebration to a citywide event — and a fairy tale.
Karin’s Florist in Vienna, Virginia, celebrated its 60th anniversary last month with a Cinderella-inspired extravaganza held in conjunction with the Annual Vienna Halloween Parade. For the parade, the shop decorated a “real-life Cinderella carriage” with in hundreds of lilies, roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, orchids and carnations. Actors portraying Cinderella and Prince Charming were joined by “Princess Abigail,” a young girl chosen from a social media contest to ride along for the event.
“It took hours of planning and set up to make it all come together, but we couldn’t be more proud of the results,” according to Maris Angolia, AAF, in a blog post about the celebration, which also featured a “Princess Diamond Giveaway” with diamond earrings from a local jeweler. (The carriage was courtesy of another local business, Shenandoah Carriage Company.)
Earlier this week, Karin’s was presented with Best in Parade honors from the Town of Vienna for its efforts.
