During a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show last week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited a chrysanthemum named in honor of their daughter, Princess Charlotte.

What do you give a kid who already has diamond rings, looking glasses, billy goats — and all the other stuff of nursery rhymes — galore? How about a perfectly hued chrysanthemum?

The ‘Princess Charlotte’ chrysanthemum — pink with green tips — is now on sale at branches of Waitrose, a chain of British supermarkets.

The bloom, produced by Dutch company Deliflor in honor of Princess Charlotte, was entered in the Flower of the Year contest last week at The Chelsea Flower Show in England. The flower didn’t win that honor, but it did show up on the Kensington Palace Instagram feed, to the delight of royal-watchers worldwide.

The flower went on sale at select Waitrose branches May 2 — Charlotte’s first birthday. A portion of each sale will be donated to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

Waitrose’s horticultural buyer, Tracey Telford, said: “We’re happy to be able to support such a worthwhile charity and we’re sure the ‘Princess Charlotte’ chrysanthemum, with its beautiful pale pink petals, will be popular with customers this spring.”
