Cressida Jamieson, the British designer, paid homage to flowers in a recent New York Times profile.
In a New York Times Style magazine profile, a British fashion designer with a growing following on social media credited her time assisting a florist with much of her style inspiration.
“Flowers are in everything,” Cressida Jamieson told the newspaper, in a story that might be worth sharing with your own fans on Instagram and Facebook. “I think that’s what I learned from being a florist. I would walk to work and feel really aware of the nature around me.”
Jamieson is a former fashion publicist who, “until recently, was assisting the floral designer Flora Starkey,” according to the Times profile. “ has made a name for herself adorning simple white cotton T-shirts with colorful flora and delicately wrought letters: Forget-me-nots for the British actress Claire Foy, a daffodil and a branch of hawthorn for the ‘Stranger Things’ star Millie Bobby Brown, reeds of barley for Kate Winslet, a mixed bouquet for the American model Dree Hemingway and flower after tiny flower for the fashion editors that flood her Instagram inbox with requests.”
Jamieson rose to (fashion) prominence ahead of the UK’s vote to leave to European Union; her T-shirts embroidered with the word “Stay” quickly sold out. For her part, she said she still looks to combine her love of retro styles and art forms with flowers: “I’m obsessed with geraniums,” she said “Those, and fuchsias — my taste can be so granny!”
