Meghan Markle’s recent baby shower festivities revealed her affection for flowers and philanthropy.
On “CBS This Morning,” co-host Gayle King, one of the Markle’s close friends, kept mostly mum about the intimate February 20 affair (in deference to the duchess’s privacy), but she did divulge what she considered an especially unique and kind detail.
“I hope she won’t mind me sharing this because I’ve never seen anything like this at a baby shower. They had flower arranging,” King said.
New York City florist Lewis Miller, founder of Flower Flash (pop up floral installations) and creative director of Urban Stems, gave guests a design demonstration, then assisted them in making their own arrangements, which were then donated, at Markle’s request, to charities through the organization Repeat Roses.
The flowers “brought a ray of sunshine on a cold winter day” to pediatric and adult cancer patients, Repeat Roses wrote on Instagram.
“I thought that was a very sweet thing,” King said. “I mean it just speaks to who she is. She’s very kind. She’s very generous.”
