Texas Florist Celebrates 45th Anniversary with First Client

There was a very special guest at Petals & Stem’s 45th anniversary celebration earlier this summer.

Harriet Stern, the company’s very first client, arrived with a photo album in tow, showing off floral designs from 1972.

“The shop hadn’t even officially opened when her wedding rolled around, but my parents did her flowers,” Weinstein said. “Seeing her photographs brought back memories for them. And the rest of us loved looking at the styles from back then.”

Stern and her daughter, both customers of the Dallas shop, like to participate in contests Weinstein hosts on Facebook and through email marketing campaigns. “Each of them, on separate occasions, included a note with their contest entry about how we did her flowers before we were a fully fledged brick and mortar shop,” Weinstein said. He loved Stern’s story and invited her to come to the party.

Weinstein hired a professional videographer for the event, which turned into a phenomenal PR moment. He recently posted to Facebook footage of his reunion with Stern and images from her photo album, which generated warm feelings for the shop, proving the company had the design skills and customer service chops to delight a customer for four and a half decades.

“It’s gotten a great response,” Weinstein said. “People have seen it and called to tell me that was really neat.”
