The American Floral Endowment is launching a video contest October 12 that encourages people to showcase their love of flowers. The contest includes a grand prize of $4,000.
Funded by the Floral Marketing Research Fund and sponsored by Asocolflores, the 2017 #FlowerLoveVideoContest aims to “inspire creative videos from anyone and everyone who loves flowers, and promotes the use and giving of fresh flowers,” said Gabriel Becerra, president of Golden Flowers, FMRF president and past AFE chairman.
“We are fortunate enough to work with a product that can be used to tell stories and evoke emotion,” Becerra added. “The #FlowerLoveVideoContest is a great initiative for us to come together, as an industry, and tell different stories about the impact that flowers can have on a daily basis.”
AFE is seeking 30- to 60-second videos that feature and promote fresh flowers. Videos may include skits, animation, surprise moments, musicals, testimonials, etc. The contest is open to both floral industry members and the general public.
The contest starts on October 12, and the video submission deadline is December 8. On December 12, finalists will be announced and voting to determine the contest winners will begin on December 20. The timeline for the contest includes the following key dates>

Winners and the entire video gallery will be published online as part of a new video library after the contest ends. The collection of videos will be available for floral industry members and others to download and use on their social media or webpages to help promote flowers.
Visit contest.endowment.org to submit your videos. Participants can use the hashtag #FlowerLoveVideoContest on Twitter and Instagram to promote their videos.
The top 10 video finalists chosen by a selection committee will be eligible for the $4,000 grand prize and two honorable mentions of $500 each. Each video will be judged and scored based on certain criteria, including commercial appeal, creativity, and how much the video positively features and promotes fresh flowers.
A separate voting process on social media will determine the ultimate winners.
